How many times have you promised yourself to get back into healthy eating and in shape after the holiday season? Many of us have done exactly that whenever the New Year starts. Here are top 4 tips on how to get fit and healthy this coming year.
1. Start all over again.
Today is a new day. You don’t have to look behind or feel sorry if you have feasted with too much sweets, pastries, meat and alcohol. You can always shift to a healthy eating plan by incorporating a variety of fruits and vegetables plus wholefoods each day. You can also munch on healthy food that curb cravings like apples and nuts. Also, consume a lot of fiber rich foods instead of junk food and sugar-rich foods.
2. It pays to be active.
If you can’t hit the gym after your holiday fun because of having to go back to work, try to do a thirty minute cardio session a few times a week like using the stairs at the office, walking around the neighborhood, jogging at the park or just working on your garden. Exercise will not only keep you fit but will also keep you from thinking of eating any “bad foods”.
3. Give yourself a break.
You were probably stressed during the holiday season which may have also caused you a lot of sleep loss, aside from the fact that preparations and parties can’t keep you from slowing down. It’s now the time to get yourself some rest, and that is a real good night’s sleep. Having eight hours of sleep is ideal because it will give your body enough time to regenerate the energy it lost during the day. Giving your body enough rest will make a difference and will keep your body in better shape as well.
4. Think positive.
Don’t be too hard on yourself. You can’t change everything overnight. Pat yourself on the back for all the changes you have done in a day. If you are faithful to what you have started this New Year, you will see a remarkable change in your body in the weeks to come.
